Northern Property Solutions

A Mona Vale business that gets homes ready to sell and keeps them maintained, with one team for painting, flooring, kitchens, landscaping, cleaning and styling. Its WordPress site no longer ran on a supported PHP, so it was rebuilt without losing a single service page.

One team for everything, on a site that could no longer be updated

Northern Property Solutions does one job that is really many: getting a home ready to sell, or keeping it maintained, with one team covering 18 trades and services. The old site carried that message well enough, but it was built on a WordPress version and theme that would not run on a supported PHP, and it was loaded with theme demo pages, a blog that had stopped, and a duplicate services list and enquiry form.

The business wanted to stay recognisable: the original 2017 logo, the green, the charcoal header, the headline "All your property solutions in one place" and the original home page order. Along the way the owner asked for two changes: drop the blog, and add the Central Coast as a service area.

The goals

  • Keep all 18 service pages at the same addresses
  • Redirect or cleanly retire every other old URL
  • Make the one-team offer obvious on a phone, with a call or quote one tap away
  • Add the pages buyers, sellers, landlords and strata managers look for: service areas, testimonials and plain FAQs
  • Keep the brand customers already know

A steady charcoal frame and one fresh green

The palette is the original brand, tuned for contrast. It reads as practical and trade-like rather than salesy.

Palette

  • #1c2124 Charcoal Header, footer and dark bands: the original site's header colour
  • #15191b Charcoal deep The deepest bands and overlays
  • #6ada6f NPS green Buttons with dark text, accents, icons, text on charcoal
  • #1f7a2c Text green Links and text on white, dark enough to pass AA
  • #1f2427 Ink Body text
  • #545d62 Ink soft Secondary text
  • #f4f6f6 Alternate band Light grey sections between white ones

White text on the bright brand green fails contrast, so buttons carry dark text, and a separate darker green does the job wherever green text sits on white.

Typography

Headings

Poppins

The old site's heading font in weights 600 and 700, self-hosted at about 8 KB per weight, with a metric-matched Arial fallback so text does not jump when it arrives.

Body text

System UI

The device's own font: nothing to download, and it reads naturally on every phone.

Sizes scale fluidly with the screen, from a 2.1rem headline on a phone to 3.6rem on a desktop.

Layout, maps, imagery and mobile

The original home page, in order

Hero with the original headline, three pillars (pre-sale preparation, maintenance, end of lease cleaning), all 18 services, a stats band, testimonials, the team, service areas, FAQs and a closing free-quote band.

Every service page a landing page

The original copy and subheadings, then a free-quote panel, a relevant testimonial, FAQs, related services and the full list, so each page stands on its own.

Coverage maps drawn, not embedded

Six regional maps from the northern peninsula to the Central Coast, drawn from OpenStreetMap suburb boundaries with covered suburbs shaded green and the water laid over the top. Light SVG files, no map widget.

Honest imagery

Most of the photos available were stock, so they are treated as illustrations: the alt text describes what is shown and never claims a client job. The genuine team photo leads on the home and About pages.

A call bar on every phone screen

Two 48px buttons, "Call us" and "Free quote", fixed to the bottom of every phone page and hidden on the contact page, where they would only repeat the form.

Eighteen services that still scan

On phones the long service list switches to compact horizontal cards, a photo beside a three-line summary, so it reads quickly instead of becoming a very long scroll.

Written once, used everywhere

Hand-built PHP 8.2 with no CMS, database or third-party packages. The phone number, address and hours are written once and used in the header, footer, contact page, structured data and llms.txt.

Fast by construction

Critical CSS inline, only the above-the-fold heading weight preloaded, the main image at high priority, and the logo inlined once and reused rather than sent twice.

Enquiries ready to answer

The form posts to the site itself and arrives with the service and suburb in the subject line and the customer as reply-to. A copy is kept on the server in case mail fails.

Spam stopped quietly

A signed token, a hidden honeypot field and a per-visitor rate limit. Only real enquiries count as leads in analytics.

Live reviews, never filtered

The rating and latest reviews come from the Google Business Profile on the server, shown newest first and never filtered by rating, with initials in place of photos.

A share card for every page

A designed 1200 by 630 card for every page and service, and a full icon set built from the vector logo.

Checked before every release

An automated crawl tests every page, link, image, redirect and the contact form round trip, and the HTML validates with no errors.

Questions about the Northern Property Solutions website

Question not here? Ask an engineer →

How did NGN move Northern Property Solutions off WordPress without losing its search rankings?

All 18 service pages stayed at exactly the same addresses, and every other old URL (around 2,600 of them, including old blog posts and image files) was mapped to its closest new page with a single 301 redirect, or retired with a 410. Google kept the history of each page instead of having to rediscover the site.

Why does the Northern Property Solutions site use drawn maps instead of an embedded Google Map?

Each region's map is a small SVG drawn from OpenStreetMap suburb boundaries, with covered suburbs shaded in the brand green. It loads instantly, needs no third-party script, and matches the suburb lists on the page and in the structured data, so people and search engines see the same coverage.

How are Google reviews shown on the Northern Property Solutions website?

The rating and latest reviews are fetched from the business's Google profile on the server, cached, and shown as plain text in the order Google publishes them, without filtering out lower ratings. No star-rating markup is self-published, which follows Google's guidelines for local businesses.

Why are the photos on the Northern Property Solutions site described as illustrations?

Most of the images the business had were stock photography, so the alt text describes what each photo shows rather than claiming it is a client job. The genuine team photo is used where it matters, on the home and About pages, and real job photos can be added later.

How does the Northern Property Solutions site make a quote easy to request on a phone?

A bar fixed to the bottom of every phone page offers "Call us" and "Free quote" as two large buttons, and the phone number in the header is tap-to-call. Enquiries arrive in the team's inbox with the service and suburb in the subject line, ready to reply to.
