Containerisation and orchestration at production scale.
NGN has designed, deployed, and maintained highly scalable Kubernetes clusters orchestrating up to 2,000 Docker containers across latency-sensitive, high-demand production environments. We don't just spin up clusters; we engineer them for fault-tolerance, security, and operational simplicity.
Our approach leverages advanced Kubernetes features including auto-scaling, self-healing, service discovery, and sophisticated networking solutions such as Calico for robust network policies and efficient overlay networking. We implement full RBAC, network policy isolation, and integrate with Shorewall IPTables where required.
On the CI/CD side, we build Jenkins pipelines, GitLab CI, and GitHub Actions workflows that enable seamless, reliable software delivery, from commit to production, every time.
Why NGN for DevOps
- Proven at scale: Kubernetes clusters managing 2,000+ containers in production
- Auto-scaling, self-healing, and service discovery configured and tested
- Security baked in: RBAC, network policies, image scanning, secrets management
- Automated deployment pipelines with rollback, blue-green, and canary strategies
- Helm and Kustomize for maintainable, environment-specific configuration
- Full integration with monitoring stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenSearch)

DevOps & container capabilities
Kubernetes Cluster Design
HA Kubernetes cluster architecture with etcd redundancy, control-plane hardening, and worker node pool design. Multi-cluster and federated deployments for geo-distributed workloads.
Docker & Container Management
Docker image design, multi-stage build optimisation, private registry management, and container security scanning. Efficient container workflows from development through to production.
Helm & Kustomize
Chart development and management with Helm, environment-specific overlay management with Kustomize. Repeatable, auditable deployments across dev, staging, and production environments.
CI/CD Pipelines
Jenkins pipeline design, GitLab CI, and GitHub Actions workflows for automated testing, building, and deployment. Continuous integration with automated rollback on failure.
Networking & Calico
Advanced Kubernetes networking with Calico CNI for network policy enforcement, overlay networking, and BGP peering. IPTables integration for fine-grained traffic control at the host level.
RBAC & Security
Kubernetes RBAC design, Pod Security Standards, network policy isolation, secrets management via HashiVault, and image vulnerability scanning integrated into the CI/CD pipeline.
Technologies & Tools
The DevOps and container ecosystem we work in every day.
Ready to modernise your deployment pipeline?
Talk to our DevOps engineers. Whether you're starting with containers or scaling an existing Kubernetes environment, we'll design the right approach.
Do we actually need Kubernetes?
Often not, and we will tell you. Kubernetes earns its complexity when you run many services, several teams need to deploy independently, load is genuinely variable, or you need portability between environments. For a few services with steady load, managed container services or well-run virtual machines cost less and break less.
What does a CI/CD pipeline change day to day?
Deployments stop being events. Code merges trigger automated build, test and release, so shipping becomes routine rather than a scheduled evening. The second benefit is consistency: the same process every time, which removes a whole class of environment-specific failures.
Can you take over an existing cluster someone else built?
Yes, and it is a large share of our work. We start with a review covering version currency, upgrade path, security posture, backup and disaster recovery, and how much undocumented knowledge left with the person who built it.
How do you handle Kubernetes version upgrades?
On a planned cadence rather than under pressure. Kubernetes releases several times a year with roughly a year of support per release, so we schedule upgrades, test against deprecated APIs first, and stage them through non-production. Clusters left for eighteen months become much harder to move.
Do you work with GitLab, GitHub, or both?
Both, plus Jenkins where it is already established. We generally recommend keeping the platform your team already knows and improving the pipeline within it, rather than adding a migration to the project.
